Beyond that it is the chain as this country runs it, beef grilled over charcoal rather than a flat-top, a salad chopped to order at the counter, fries, McCafe. About sixty branches nationwide keep kashrut, which makes this the local default for observant families who want something fast and uncomplicated. Nobody pretends it is more than that. On a Sunday afternoon with hungry children in tow, it is enough.
