NEW CHINA – Restaurant
New China works out of a small storefront on North Tamiami Trail in Nokomis, and its local reputation rests on the rice. Regulars order house special fried rice and chow mein, chicken with broccoli, Szechuan chicken, shrimp with lobster sauce and hot and sour soup, then take half of it home. The owners run the front themselves and orders come out fast and correct. Nothing in the room is trying to impress anybody. It is the kind of neighbourhood Chinese kitchen a town keeps on speed dial. Open Tuesday through Sunday.
