ראיסה בשוק הפשפשים – bar

Raisa keeps house at Yehuda Margoza 10, a few steps into the Jaffa flea market, and the place runs on its owner's personality — she is in every detail, and says so. The cooking is Mediterranean in the widest sense: North African spice, Greek olives and yoghurt, Italian pasta and tomatoes, Israeli herbs, meat and fish. A whole sea bass roasts in the stone oven and comes out with green beans and potato; there are fish patties and lamb cigars she is frankly proud of, pasta with zucchini, peas, spinach and mint. The bar shakes sangria and a negroni built on Akko gin. Open from noon to late, and it feels like a house, not a restaurant.
