TO BE FRANK – Restaurant

To Be Frank Jax is a hot dog and burger counter on Lem Turner Road, run by owners who quite obviously enjoy the job. The dogs come loaded — chili and slaw, chili and queso — and the griddle turns out smashburgers and bacon cheeseburgers alongside a catfish sandwich, loaded tots under house sauce, and mac and cheese. Dessert is strawberry shortcake or apple empanadas. Customers talk constantly about how they are treated here, and about portions that land bigger than expected. Closed Sundays and Mondays. Worth the drive north.
