TROPICS – Restaurant
Parked on Dodecanese Boulevard down at the Sponge Docks, Tropics is a bar first and a kitchen second — and it knows it. Doors open in the late afternoon and, midweek onward, stay open until two, with a DJ, live music and lights strung over the outdoor seating. The food is bar food done properly: Southwest egg rolls that regulars order by reflex, wings, and a short seafood and pizza list. Cocktails get as much attention as the plates. What people mention most is the room itself — the owner and bartenders make strangers feel like they have been coming for years.
