אוניגירי-יה – Restaurant

A tiny Japanese counter at Florentin 34 in Tel Aviv, opened by the Sato family — Sharon, her Tokyo-born husband Yoshi and their son Joey behind the register — and given over almost entirely to onigiri, the rice balls that anchor Japanese everyday eating, alongside a short run of Japanese comfort dishes. The room is bright and minimal, hung with Yoshi's calligraphy, with seating so limited that most orders leave in a bag. It is street food made with unusual precision. Small, exacting, and about as close to Tokyo as Florentin gets.
