Café du Bonheur – cafe

Cafe du Bonheur has sat on Bullingerplatz in Zurich's Sihlfeld quarter since 2013, a French-leaning neighbourhood cafe rather than anything grand. Milk coffee arrives in handleless bowls, which tells you most of what you need about the register here. The kitchen works in French country style, treating ingredients variously, sometimes left almost raw and sometimes caramelised, and covers breakfast, brunch, lunch and dinner, with vegetarian and gluten-free options. The terrace on the square fills the moment the sun does. Weekdays run from eight until late; weekends open at ten. Reservations are taken. It is, unmistakably, a place built for lingering.
