Café Elena – cafe

Two minutes from Zürich Hauptbahnhof and steps from Central, Café Elena does one thing and does it every day of the year: breakfast and brunch, from nine until five. Two young restaurateurs, one from Zürich and one from Berlin, built it around plates that photograph as well as they eat. Pancakes arrive as Dream Team, Lady America, Nutella Schock and Exotic. Pan breakfasts run to Bauernfrühstück, Mediterran, Vegipfanne and a shakshuka. There is a Turkish breakfast, a chilli con carne burrito, and chèvre chaud with figs and avocado. Vegetarian and vegan options throughout; all meat is halal. Reservations by email.
