Charleys has been grilling cheesesteaks to order since 1986, and the Park Plaza counter in Pompano Beach follows the same script: USDA choice steak or all-white-meat chicken hitting a flat-top, hand-cut peppers, onions and mushrooms alongside, then everything folded into a toasted roll. The Philly Cheesesteak is the baseline; the Old School piles on extra steak, sauteed onions and Cheez Whiz. Wings come classic or boneless, tossed in Buffalo, Korean BBQ, mango habanero or a lemon pepper rub. Fries arrive plain, cheese-covered or loaded. Real-fruit lemonades and thick shakes round it out. Fast food, but cooked in front of you.
