DOC FORD'S RUM BAR & GRILLE – Restaurant

Rum, grouper and a novelist's imagination. Doc Ford's takes its name from the character in Randy Wayne White's Sanibel-set fiction, and since 2003 the Island Inn Road bar and grille has traded on that easy island mythology. Yucatan Shrimp, butter and chilli and lime, is the signature and rarely leaves a table untouched. The kitchen also turns out Yucatan shrimp tacos, Campeche fish tacos of wild-caught Alaskan flounder, macadamia-nut-crusted grouper, a grouper sandwich three ways and a dry-rubbed aged Angus ribeye. Rum cocktails do the rest. Eleven until ten, every day. Shorts, flip-flops and salt-stiff hair are entirely encouraged here.
