Las Comadres set out to put proper Mexican cooking on Lake Alfred's map, and it worked well enough that the family now runs two kitchens in town. Quesabirria is the calling card: beef birria tacos under melted cheese with onion and cilantro. Street tacos come with your pick of meat, and flautas, chimichangas and rotating daily specials fill out the board. The marisqueria half means ceviche and mariscos are done properly rather than as an afterthought. Fresh tamales appear on Saturdays and rarely last. Small-town Florida, cooking well above its weight.
