A kosher McDonald's inside the Big centre in Beit Shemesh, which means no cheeseburger on the board and the shutters down from Friday afternoon until Saturday night. Everything else is the Israeli edition of the chain: beef grilled over charcoal instead of a flat-top, fries, a salad chopped to order at the counter, McCafe alongside. Roughly sixty branches nationwide keep kashrut, and this is one of the ones local families lean on for a fast weekday dinner squeezed between errands. Predictable in exactly the way people want it to be. Open again the moment Shabbat is out.
