Marouf began in Amman as a coffee house built around carefully sourced and roasted blends, and the Aqaba branch by the Mövenpick carries that forward with a view thrown in — a rooftop terrace looking out over the Red Sea. The counter runs on specialty coffee, iced drinks and dessert; the traditional mint tea and Turkish coffee are what regulars order without looking. The food stays Jordanian and unfussy, crisp falafel included. The second floor has quietly become somewhere students settle in with a laptop. Coffee taken seriously, hospitality taken more seriously still.
