Charcoal is the whole argument here. Al Mankal has been grilling in Aqaba since 1985, and its Al Saadah Street branch — in the middle of the hotel district — still runs on the same principle: chicken tikka off the coals, mixed grills, and the smoke that comes with them. There is seating inside and out, tables get pushed together for groups without complaint, and children are entirely at home. Tourists and Jordanians fill it in roughly equal measure, which is usually a good sign. Prices are fair and the tax is already in the number.
