Murray Hill Diner – diner

A proper Lexington Avenue diner, booths and all, running from six in the morning to ten at night with the coffee always freshly brewed. Breakfast is the main event: buttermilk pancakes with strawberries, lumberjack platters, waffles with bacon or Canadian bacon, French toast, lox and eggs Benedict, and omelettes from the farmer's to a plain cheese with fries. Lunch pulls in chicken noodle soup and burgers. Regulars talk about staff who explain the menu and remember faces - a genuinely un-touristy corner of Murray Hill. Old New York, still open, still cheap enough.
