A Midtown East diner on 58th Street, open eight in the morning to ten at night, doing the thing New York diners do best: everything, quickly, without fuss. Buttermilk pancakes and eggs Benedict carry breakfast; a New York cheesesteak, grilled chicken sandwich, grilled cheese and truffle fries carry the rest of the day. Steak and eggs if you want the full commitment. Dessert is where regulars linger — pecan pie à la mode, carrot cake, chocolate mousse, and hot chocolate people go out of their way for. It is snug and it is midtown-priced. Fast, friendly, dependable.
