TIDBITS – Restaurant
Clara LeBlanc opened this San Marco lunch counter in 1985 and the proposition has not changed: order at the counter, take a table in the big room, eat something made that morning. The chicken salad is why most people are there — all white breast meat, hand-picked off the bone daily — alongside tuna salad plates, oven-roasted turkey, chicken avocado pitas, chicken and sausage gumbo and soups that rotate. Croissants get singled out for their flakiness. Diners return for the daily specials and the freshness, not for ceremony. Parking is the only recurring gripe.
