Café Carrilana – cafeteria

Old-town Santiago, minutes from the cathedral, in a room named for the wooden racing carts of Galicia. Drinks come first and run all day: Lotus and Oreo coffees, chai and golden lattes, cold-pressed juices, kombucha, and a long cocktail list built in-house, from a Singapore Sling to a mezcal-and-blackberry Tigre Morado. Food starts at four in the afternoon. Pastrami on brioche with slaw, a burrata roll on Galician bread with confit garlic, pulled-pork tacos, smash burgers, a Beyond burger, honey-mustard chicken poke and salads of goat cheese, strawberry and walnut. Guinness cake, baked cheesecake and brioche French toast for afters.
