Café D'Lucía – cafe

On Rua de Ramon Pineiro, away from Santiago's tourist grid, Cafe D'Lucia does the long day: seven in the morning until midnight, every day of the week. The kitchen cooks casera, and the tortilla de patata is what regulars order without looking at the board. Callos, Galicia's slow-cooked tripe, appears on Thursdays and Sundays. Around them sit bocadillos, hamburgers, platos combinados and raciones sized for sharing, plus a daily set menu that keeps the room full at lunch. Portions get talked about more than anything else here. A neighbourhood bar-cafe doing the ordinary things properly, from breakfast through to closing.
