Café Venecia – cafe

Founded in 1962 by Antonio de Toro and Mercedes Santos, and run since 1994 by Oscar de Toro, this Rua do Horreo cafeteria sits a hundred metres from Plaza de Galicia and five hundred from the cathedral. Coffee is the reason to come; the house says its brewing has won national recognition. Breakfast sets pair a double coffee and fresh orange juice with toast, croissant, or a turkey or salmon bagel. Later come tostas of serrano and cheese, sourdough sandwiches, ensaladilla, churros, almond and orange tart, waffles with vanilla ice cream. Vermouth on tap and homemade tapas at aperitivo hour.
