Australian brunch transplanted to West 25th Street, where the flat whites land fast and the room hums from opening. Citizen of Chelsea is the original of a small Australian cafe group founded in 2016, and it still leads with the smashed avo that made its name, alongside the Big Brekkie, green goddess shakshuka, cast iron baked eggs, a barbecue pulled pork benny and banana bread French toast. Pancakes come either banana butterscotch or blueberry maple. Lunch turns to warm harissa chicken bowls, a hot honey turkey sandwich and the Pesto Turk. Espresso martinis and whipped-citrus cocktails carry the afternoon on.
