Ha'Gourmet on Leshem Street in Petah Tikva is a small kosher schnitzel-and-grill counter built out of family recipes - a grandfather's, a mother's schnitzel - reworked by the owner into something of his own. It opens at eight for breakfast, then runs the Gourmet sandwich, a plated business lunch and a run of house salads and sides through the afternoon. It closes for Shabbat. Regulars treat it as a lunch habit rather than an outing, which is exactly what it is built to be. Straightforward food, made the way someone's family made it.
