Set inside a 130-year-old Templer building in Neve Tzedek that once housed the original Café Lorenz, Lorenz & Mintz is a kosher dairy café and bakery with one of the calmer garden courtyards in Tel Aviv. Lily Mintz's kitchen leans French: laminated pastry made in house, generous breakfast spreads, salads and fish plates through the middle of the day, and a dessert counter that people come for on its own — lemon-meringue cheesecake, tartlets with pastry cream and homemade strawberry jam. Coffee is taken seriously. A quiet room in a loud neighbourhood.
