The Sea Mall branch in Ashdod, planted where the shopping crowd and the coast overlap. Israel's McDonald's has grilled its beef over charcoal since 1993 rather than using the flat-top the rest of the world runs on, and the chopped salad is put together at the counter to order. Fries, McCafe coffee, the usual brisk handover. It is the mall-day fallback: nobody plans around it, everybody ends up there eventually, and it feeds a family in the time it takes to find a table. Fast food doing exactly the job fast food exists to do.
