South Side Smokehouse – Restaurant

A family-run kosher smokehouse on Cedarbridge Avenue, which is a rarer thing than it sounds - central Texas technique inside kosher rules. Brisket, burnt ends and ribs come off the smoker and land in sandwiches or on trays, and the decor leans playfully southwestern without pretending to be anything it isn't. It is not fancy and does not try to be. Lakewood diners rank it near the top of the town's restaurants and treat it as the default lunch when a sandwich won't do. Smoke first, everything else second.
