YOKO'S JAPANESE RESTAURANT – Restaurant

A long-standing South MacDill fixture where Yoko herself is usually working the room. The look is contemporary Japanese and deliberately low-key, the kind of place that handles a family dinner and a quiet date equally well. Sushi is the draw, with the Red Devil, citrus and Yam Yam rolls named most often, alongside vegetable tempura, geso, steam buns, spicy edamame, pork ramen and fried rice that arrives in quantity. Regulars describe fish that tastes genuinely fresh and service that steers you well. The room could use a touch-up; almost nobody seems to mind.
