Rúa Doutor Maceira 12, open from eight in the morning until half past eleven at night on weekdays — Café Bar Pato Rojo fits the whole Santiago day into one small room. Coffees, juices, soft drinks, beer, wine, spirits and copas over the bar; breakfasts, bocadillos, hamburgers, sandwiches, raciones and tapas out of the kitchen. Seven tables take fifty covers, so it works harder than it looks. Dogs are welcome, there is Wi-Fi, step-free access, and cards are taken. Diners keep returning for the breakfasts and the tapas, and for Fridays, when the callos go on. Cheerful and thoroughly local.
