Madame Bonté Café – cafe

A sibling-owned café group that has quietly taken the Upper East Side, with rooms on Second Avenue in Yorkville, East 84th Street and East 66th. The formula is simple and well executed: specialty coffee pulled properly, artisanal pastries, and gourmet sandwiches that reward a sit-down rather than a dash. The 84th Street room adds a big downstairs space and a backyard patio, and turns into a wine bar in the evenings. Neighbours treat it as a second living room, which is precisely the intention. Open early, unhurried, and reliably better than the block deserves.
