A confectionery in Zarzir where the Jundawi brothers make Arabic sweets the long way. The counter runs to knafeh with pistachio and knafeh with cheese and nuts, baklava built on Aleppo pistachios, fatayer scented with mastic, date cookies with mahlab, atayef filled with cheese or nuts, sesame brank biscuits, cream cakes in a rotation of flavours and ice-cream cakes for the summer. Coffee and a seat come with it. Trays go out to celebrations across the region. Sugar, semolina and patience.
