Chef Eldad Shmuli named this place for his mother and split its day in two. Mornings at Karmim Park, by the Kiryat Anavim entrance in the Jerusalem hills, it is a bakery: hand-shaped sourdough loaves, yeast pastries and cakes made from scratch, with serious coffee and light plates to eat in or take away. Evenings it becomes a bistro, white tablecloths and a Mediterranean menu leaning on vegetables, live fire and the taboun. The set lunch has been singled out in the national press as proof that a careful kitchen can still be good value. Warm, unhurried, worth the drive.
