אושפלאו | Oshpalao - בר אוכל אוזבקי – restaurant

A slice of Uzbekistan on Sheshet HaYamim in Bnei Brak, all high ceilings and soft arches, named for the dish it is built around. Oshpalao itself — rice, carrots, chickpeas and slow-cooked beef — is the anchor, and around it sit goshtgizhda and chebureki pastries stuffed with cumin-spiced meat, tabun-grilled lamb and beef skewers, a long parade of opening salads, and a Bukharan dessert board of chak-chak, baklava and pistachio halva. Kosher under the Bnei Brak rabbinate, meat only. Diners talk about portions that end the evening early. Come hungry; leave defeated.
