Cafe Volkan – cafe

A small Boerum Hill coffee shop and breakfast room on Bergen Street where the espresso and the plating both get attention. Mornings turn on omelets built on three eggs with avocado, tomatoes and sourdough, from a plain version to Norwegian with smoked salmon, Golden Gruyere, and Woodland with cremini mushrooms and onions. Toasts are the other draw: classic avocado, Mediterranean with sundried tomato and feta, Rosemary Fig Bliss with whipped ricotta, Earth and Burrata, Italian Garden. Turkish eggs arrive poached over garlicky yogurt under spiced butter. Acai bowls, Belgian waffles and lox bagels fill the gaps. Bright, unfussy, reliably photogenic.
